City of ZadarZadarska županijaZadar is town in the heart of Dalmatia. With its 90 thousand inhabitants, Zadar is an administrative, political, cultural and economic center of the region. Mediterranean climate provides warm summers and mild winters. Average temperature in summer is 25 degree C, and 8 degree C in winter. The highest sea temperature measured is about 25 degree C. It is presumed that Zadar is about 3 thousand years old. That old town has many cultural and historical monuments which in combination with the beautiful sea and archipelago makes an excellent tourist destination. During the long history, Zadar was destructed many times but it was also rebuild and every time prettier. It changed many names like Jader, Idassa, Jadera, Diadora, Zara but today it is called Zadar. Zadar has one of the biggest and best marketplaces in Croatia. If you are not attracted by the history of the town maybe you will find interesting the sea organ that is made on the Zadar waterfront. It was made by the project of the local architect Nikola Bašić. It creates magnificent sound that you can listen even on a web page of Zadar if you are not able to visit it. For me this is a good reason to visit Zadar |
