Vukovar is placed on the delta of Vuka River in the Danube. It is located on the very important route that is connecting northwestern Europe with the east. As a relevant station on that route, Vukovar has developed road, railroad and air and river traffic. Vukovar is the most damaged town during the Croatia independence war and the bombing by JNA has almost demolished the entire town. It is also famous by the name Hero-town. There have been many restoration works after the war. Vukovar economy is mostly based on the agriculture and trade. Before it was one of the most developed regions in Croatia but the industry was heavily damaged during the war. Now, one of the tasks of restoration is also to improve the town industry.
