Splitsko Dalmatinska County


Split is the most beautiful city in Dalmatia. It is the second biggest city in Croatia right nex to Zagreb. It is the center of the Splitsko - dalmatinska county. 95% of population are Croats and 88% of them are catholics. Total population is about 200 thousand people. Split is with the highway 2 hours from Zagreb and 5 hours from Rijeka. By sea it is connected with all ports in Adriatic. Split also has airport and railroad connection with Croatia and rest of Europe. Split is most famous for the Dioklecian palace and it's lazy citizens. Some of you probably don't know that there is a spa with healthy sulphorous water. The Palace was made 293. year B.C. by Dioklecian. It is 29 thousand square meters big. Split was expanding around the Palace. Split was ruled by Romans, Hungarian, Venice, French and Austrians. It was damaged in the World Wars but it was also shaped by the rich history.
