Splitsko – Dalmatinska County
The Splitsko – Dalmatinska County is about 14 thousand square kilometers. The largest isle in the county is Brač. The longest river in the county is Cetina, and highest peak is the top of Biokovo Mountain.
In the county is mostly Mediterranean climate. Average summer temperature is 26’C and in winter is 7’C, which is characteristic for Split, the biggest city and administrative center of the county. The place with most sunny days during year in the county but also in whole Croatia is Hvar. The biggest towns in the county are Split, Hvar, Imotski, Kaštela, Komiža, Makarska, Omiš, Sinj, Solin, Stari grad, Supetar, Trilj, Trogir, Vis, Vrgovec and Vrlika. Split is the center of the county with population of about 190.000 people on 80 square kilometers. The smaller communities are Baška voda, Bol, Brela, Cista provo, Dicmo, Dugi rat, Dugopolje, Gradac, Hrvace, Jelsa, Klis, Lečevica, Lokvi.čići, Lovreč, Marina, Malina, Muć, Nerežišća, Okrug, Otok, Podbablje, Podgora, Podstrana, Postira, Prgomet, Primorski dolac, Proložac, Pučišća, Runovići, Seget, Selca, Sučuraj, Sutivan, Šestanovac, Šolta, Tučepi, Zadvarje, Zagvozd, Zmijavci.
For the county is known that all people that live in Split are “native people” and everybody else that live 10 kilometers from Split or more are called Vlaji which is indecent nickname. |
