Osječko – Baranjska County
The Osječko – Baranjska County is located on the northeast of Croatia. It is about 4.000 square kilometers in size. In this county live about 330 thousand people from which 80% are Croats. The county has 7 larger towns and 35 smaller communities. Towns are Donji Miholjac, Našice, Đakovo, Beli Manastir, Belišće, Osijek i Valpovo, and smaller communities are Bilje, Bizovac, Čeminac, Čepin, Darda, Kneževi Vinogradi, Koška, Levanjska Varoš, Magadenovac, Satnica Đakovačka, Semeljci, Strizivojna, Draž, Drenje, Đurđenovac, Popovac, Punitovci, Šodolovci, Antunovac, Donja Motičina, Gorjani, Jagodnjak, Marijanci, Viljevo, Viškovci, Feričanci, Petlovac, Erdut, Ernestinovo, Petrijevci, Podravska Moslavina, Trnava, Podgorač, Vladislavci and Vuka. The county is mostly lowland area. 260 thousand acres is the size of the agricultural ground. On the Danube River is Kopački Rit, a nature park and home for many different species of birds.
Most important transportation corridors in the county are those that follow Danube and Drava rivers. There is about 1.700 kilometers of roads, 270 kilometers of railroads with 31 railroad station. In the county are two large rivers, Danube and Drava, which together have about 190 kilometers of water ways available for traffic. There are two airports near Osijek. One is Osijek airport and the other one is Business – recreational airport Osijek. |
