It is located between Bilogora and Kalnik Mountain and fluvial valley created by Drava River, on the Koprivnica Creek. It is on a crossroads that connects all sides of Croatia. It has developed road and railroad traffic. Koprivnica is 85 km from Zagreb and 50 km from Varaždin. It is populated with about 30.000 people. Most active business is cattle breeding and agriculture, and most developed is food industry (Podravka) and pharmaceutical industry (Belupo). From the rich history the most important evidence are fort from renaissance age, St. Nicolas’s Church and a convent. Museum of Koprivnica is also a rich source of valuable historical items. Rich cultural heritage with a catering tradition provides the development of tourism. The town is also promoted by sport successes, specially in handball, and recreational abilities are enriched with hunting and fishing in the local forests, Drava river and many small lakes. Home |
