Karlovac County


Karlovac, the town on the four rivers, is located in the middle of Croatia and it is on the important roads that are connecting inside land with the see. Karlovac is standing here for about five centuries surrounded with four rivers, Kupa, Korana, Mrežnica and Dobra, but also with the old fort walls that protected the town from Turks and wich is preserved till today. Name of the town was given in the honor of archduke Charles Habsburg. Town size is today about 400 square km and it is populated with about 60 thousand people. Karlovac is on the crossroads of many routes and it is close to two neighbor countries, Slovenia and BiH. It was recognised trough the history as a important stop on the route toward the Adriatic see so trough it was passing famous old roads like Carolina, Luisiana and Giussepina. Although damaged during the Croatia independence war, it was restaurated and developed with the help of the industries and transport significance, but it preserved original form and natural beauties with many parks and green surfaces.
