City of PazinIstarska CountyPazin is a town with a population of about 10 thousand people. It is located in the middle of Istrian peninsula. It is administrative center of Istria, but only for historical reasons, because Pula is more developed then Pazin. Pazin is full of natural, cultural and historical monuments as the convent, castle, St. Nicolas church, famous cave with the river of Pazinčica. On the city emblem is a tower from the castle. Church of St. Nicolas have been built in 1266. year. There are many buildings from the middle age. In the first half of 20. century have been built the National Dome, theatre, the Italian gymnasium with student dormatories. Pazin was at the time one of centres of croatian cultural rebirth. It is one of the first towns in Istria with infrastructures like sewage and street lights and water system. Pazin was bombarded during the II. World War so some buildings and monuments are only remembered by the older people and on the old photographs. In Pazin is a continental climate with hot summers and cold winters. Located in the middle of Istria, Pazin is connected with all other towns in Istra and trough the tunnel of Učka it is connected with the rest of the country. With Pula is Pazin connected with Ipsilon by road and also with the railroad. |
