The capital and the economical, administrative center of Croatia is Zagreb. The country is divided on 20 counties and one city, Zagreb, which has rights like a county. Although it’s occupying small amount of territory, Croatia is very rich with different geographical natural environment. It has sea and coast, hills and mountains, valleys, rivers and lakes. That also explains the fact that there are three main climate types in Croatia, mediterranean, mountain, and moderate continental climate. These main characteristics in combination with very rich cultural history provide Croatia with enormous tourist potential. Croatian people inhabit this land for more then 13. centuries and during this period there have been many things that have left a mark on the culture and history of this area. Croatia have been through the long history under the rule of many nations like Hungarians, Turks, Austrians, Venice, Italians and Yugoslavia, before it declared independence in 1991 during the Croatian independence war. It has joined the United Nations and now the main objectives for Croatia are integrations into European Union and NATO. Croatia has very good processing industry, agriculture, foresting and fishing but the main sector and the most probably future of the country is in tourism. Rich history with culture and plenty of valuable monuments in combination with natural beauty and difference are main attributes for successful tourism that is still developing and improving. Home |
